     BMI (Body Mass Index) is a value derived from the weight and height of an individual. BMI is a reliable measure to assess the nutritional status of an individual and then categorize him/her as underwight, normal weight or overweight, based on that value. Phoenix BMI scale (PBMI scale) calculates your weight, height and BMI instantly. It also shows how underweight or overweight you are. About PBMI Scale:

Phoenix BMI scale is a sleek and attractive weighing scale that calculates your weight, height and BMI. It also calculates how underweight/overweight you are, based on universal standards of BMI values. It has a strong cast iron platform covered with a rubber sheet that ensures proper balance of the person standing on the platform and an ultrasonic sensor for accurate measurement of the person's height. PBMI scale displays the height of the user in centimeters or also in feet,inches. PBMI scales are available in variety of combinations depending on the user's requirements, namely, with coin selector, thermal printer, computer interface, GSM (SMS) facility, RFID card registration facility and also audio outputs! Using the PBMI Machine:

In the basic model, the user first zeros the display using the 'ZERO' key on the machine's keyboard. The he/she steps onto the scale and the scale displays a 'stand firm' message indicating the user to do so. The PBMI scale calculates and displays the person's weight, height and BMI. The person should now input his/her gender using the 'MALE'/'FEMALE' key. Depending on the gender, the scale immediately calculates the weight range of the person and displays whether he/she is underweight / overweight / normal via LED indications. A separate display window on the scale also shows the amount by which the person is overweight / underweight. These results can be printed if a thermal printer model of the scale is used.  The last data can be recalled and viewed using the 'MR' (Memory Recall) key. The 'MODE' key is used to convert the unit of height from cms to feet/inches and vice versa.

Normal BMI ranges :

For males : 21.5 to 23.5

For females : 18.5 to 21.5

1. Audio Output : PBMI scale has 7 audio files inbuilt that direct the user about operating the scale. These audio files are available in 3 languages : English, Hindi and Marathi and the user can select which language he/she wants. Audio outputs make the scale more noticeable and approachable and are ideal for crowd attracting events like fairs, exhibitions, expos etc.
2. Coin Selector : The user can also operate the scale using a coin selector that enables the working of the scale based on a reference preset value. For example, if Rs. 2 has been set as the reference value, any user must first insert coins amounting to Rs. 2 and then use the scale further. The reference amount and inserted amounts are displayed in a user friendly manner. In addition, displaying the total amount in coin box and clearing the coin box are some more features provided by Phoenix. 3. RFID Card detector : PBMI scale also comes with an RFID Card detector. Every user can be given a registered RFID card on which his/her BMI and other details would be written. This card is first read by PBMI scale via RFID scanner for user identification. The user then steps on the scale for his/her BMI measurement. The result is further written in the card by the scale. PBMI scale with RFID card reader is very useful in applications where the users are same and where consistent checking of their health and BMI values is required, like in SRPF, CRPF, BSF and other recruitment camps or even in schools to keep regular track of children's health.

4. SMS Facility : You can also insert a sim card in PBMI machine with GSM facility. On getting a person's BMI data from the scale, he/she just has to input the mobile number using the alpha-numeric keyboard on the scale. PBMI scale immediately send an SMS containing the displyed details on the input mobile number! This feature is very useful in schools and other child care centres as the BMI data of the child can be sent as an SMS to his/her parent. 

5. Printer : PBMI scale gives a quick printed slip containing all data about the user's BMI. This has the user's weight, height, BMI and amount of overweight / underweight.

6. Computer Interface : The measured weight, height and BMI can also be sent to the computer via serial interface instead of printing it.

7. Customizable header/footer : The user can customize the header and footer that gets printed on each slip. Using the PBMI machine's alpha-numeric keyboard, he/she can input the hospital / school / company / shop name as the header and also type in a thank you message as a footer.
